CQtober 2024 - Day 5, Zig Zag Chain Stitch
Today's stitch is Zig Zag Chain Stitch. It's usually a nice easy one, but I struggled a bit today.
Today's supplies were minimal once again. Two colors of Valdani Perle Cotton, scissors, needles, and my trusty thimble.Truly, choosing thread colors took me nearly as long as it did to stitch this seam! In the end, I was really pleased with the colors I chose.
The cotton velveteens and corduroy are bulky at the seams, even with pressing. At first I had trouble keeping the tension of my stitches even and as a result, I had to go back and tighten things up for the first half. Once I got to the second half, I understood how to hold the fabric better to maintain even stitches.
Shortly after I started the Pistil Stitches, I remembered that I had a heavy 12" embroidery hoop. It helped so much. It helped even more when I decided to see if my new embroidery frame stand would hold it. It did and it made stitching so much easier! I loved being able to have both hands free to stitch with! I wish I had done that for the zig zag chain portion of the seam!
I didn't get a photo of the frame in action, but I'll try to do that next time!
Happy Stitching!
