Crazy Quilted Christmas Tree - Snowflake Seam

Wool CQ Xmas Tree Episode #3

I started this Christmas tree with the purchase of a kit from Quilter's Station in Lee's Summit, Missouri, back in 2014 0r 2015.

It was fairly primitive, but I loved it!

I pieced the wool, changing a few fabrics that were a bit too muted for my liking to something a bit brighter or clearing in color.  The accompanying embellishments were rusty jingle bells and a star.  I had added some old gold star buttons that I thought I'd add.

The stitching patterns were printed on one of those sticky sheets that you stitch through and than use water to dissolve.  I really hate stitching through that stuff!  And truthfully, the seams they had didn't inspire me much. So it languished in my unfinished project bin for years.

But then I found a string of iridescent white stars at Hobby Lobby, and suddenly, I knew exactly what I wanted to do on this!  That was fall of 2023.  I stitched the first two or three seams and included them in some of my stitching rambles videos from that year. Here are links to Episode 1 and Episode 2 (also know as Stitching Rambles episodes 12 & 13)

I was so happy with those first few seams!  And scattering some of the stars around made it even better!  I also found that I had a couple of smaller stars in my supplies, and then I ordered the tiny ones off of Amazon.  I'll list some affiliate links to the three sizes of mother of pearl stars I found on Amazon below - your purchase helps support my ability to keep making videos and feed myself and the kitties!

Off camera, I stitched a few more seams.  And that's where it stayed until just a couple of weeks ago.

I've started filming again, and the next several videos will be me finishing the seams on this Christmas tree and getting it made!

Today's video features three snowflakes.  I love stitching snowflakes, but I must admit that these are not. my best.  I struggled with camera issues, and I found it hard to be precise on the wool fabrics.  I even considered taking these out and redoing them, a little bit smaller.  But then, I decided to leave them.  It's all part of the journey.

Until next time, Happy Stitching!

Your stitching is beautiful. I love this little project! I think the way you've layered the stitches is fantastic. I can't wait to see it finished!
