Christmas Meditation ~ Doves

Dove

Doves have long been held as a symbol of peace in our world.  The dove is also a symbol of the Holy Spirit. 

Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form, as a dove, and a voice came from heaven, "Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased."
Luke 3:21-22




As symbols of peace, doves can remind us of the angel's message when they came to tell the shepherds of the Messiah's birth.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased!"
Luke 2:13-14

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
