Christmas Meditation ~ Colors of Christmas ~ Red

Christmas Pincushion WIP
For generations, Christmas has been celebrated with the colors of Red and Green.  It has only been recently that other colors have been used.

Red

Traditionally, Red in Christmas decorations represents the Blood of Christ, the sacrifice of Jesus death on the cross as payment for our human sins so that we might know God personally.

And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."
Matthew 26: 27, 28

He entered once for all into the Holy Place, taking not the blood of goats and calves but his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.
Hebrews 9:12

Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
Hebrews 9: 22

You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
1Peter 1:18,19

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly place, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.  In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making know to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
Ephesians 1: 3-10

I've started stitching again.  How I've missed working on Crazy Quilting!  To ease back into it, I'm working on a Christmas pincushion.
Blessings all!
