Christmas Meditation ~ Christmas Cookies

Christmas Cookies

Throughout recorded history, people have been baking special foods for the holidays.  The tradition of baking Christmas cookies was already in place by the 1500's!  Some think that the first Christmas Cookies were made to resemble the communion wafers given out on Christmas Eve, while others think that the German Lebkuchen or molded gingerbread were the first Christmas Cookies.  It's a tradition that we still enjoy today!

My daughter has been very busy the past few days!  Every surface in the kitchen is covered in beautifully decorated sugar cookies!  They taste yummy too!

Cookies can remind us that Jesus is the nourishment of our lives.

"I am the bread of life.  This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it and not die.  I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh."
John 6: 48, 50-51

Lisa, this and all of your Christmas Meditations are so beautiful! I'm wishing you a blessed and peaceful Christmas, and all the best in the year ahead. Your decorations are just lovely, and it's wonderful to see how you've incorporated Mommy's things and your handiwork into them too! Lots of love to you and the rest of the family. <3 H
